Stunning Chicago Engagement Photo Locations

March 23, 2022

As a Chicago native I love shooting around the city. Now that you’re engaged, your engagement session is probably on your mind, and you’re dreaming up what outfits to wear and now trying to choose the locations! There are so many amazing spots within Chicago, but I have narrowed it down to 5 of my favorite locations for engagement photos. All 5 of these spots look beautiful year round as they focus on the magnificent architecture Chicago offers, and work in almost every light situation!

1. Olive Park

This one has to be #1 on my list. It offers such an amazing view of the northern part of the Chicago skyline, and is truly epic. Aside from being a photographer’s spot, it’s pretty quiet, as not many tourist frequent it. There is no permit fee, but they do close at 8pm, so if your going for that summer sunset – plan accordingly!

2. The Wrigley Building

A close call for #1, and where I spend most of my time – I love the Wrigley Building. It offers so much variety in a small area and the architecture is just stunning. A great view of the rivers and beautiful shaded light, it’s a fabulous spot. There is no permit to shoot here, but keep in mind that it is a public space and can get crowded.

3. Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park offers a unique skyline view as well as greenery. It’s gorgeous in the Spring-Fall and there is so much variety. The iconic honey comb is a popular spot and can create some fun photos. No permit here, but is another photographer’s favorite, so come with some patience as you may need to work around other sessions.

4. North Ave Beach

One of the most amazing spots for a skyline view. It screams Chicago AND you can easily walk to it from Lincoln Park, so you get a 2 for 1! There is no permit to shoot here, but again it can be busy!

5. The Rookery

Such a stunning spot, with incredible architecture! A great rain back-up, and perfect if you want a bit of privacy in the busy city. It’s right on Lasalle, so you can also head outside to the Board of Trade, and grab a few more photos outside. A permit is required, at $275 to utilize the whole space. Keep in mind, they only take check!

6. The Field Museum

Another amazing spot with beautiful architecture, surrounded by stunning gardens and right on the lake. It give you a unique view of the skyline if you just walk a few steps down to the water. No permit is needed here!

7. Union Station

Last but certainly not least! Maybe not the obvious choice, but such a beautiful one. The outside is stunning, and bonus – it’s covered from the rain! It’s a great rainy day back up. The inside is grand and elegant, and does require a $150 permit, but it is 100% worth it. The outdoor space is free to shoot at.

I hope this helped narrow down your search! Which one of these Chicago engagement locations is your fav? If you’d like to schedule your engagement session with me, click here!
